ABOUT DIDAMS

On behalf of the entire faculty and board of directors of DURA INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES (DIDAMS), Sierra Leone and United Kingdom, it gives me great pleasure to introduce  our college to you. The college’s internationally based effective teaching and research faculties is continuing to develop a broad spectrum of academic disciplines that focus on career-building, professional development, continuing personal development, human capacity building, skills development, people empowerment and adult literacy. One distinguished characteristic of our institution is that we are passionate about making education free or affordable at the barest minimum.  If you choose us, I believe, our collaborative efforts, which involve working in partnership with other institutions or external faculties, will translate in the broader sense, to help address and find solutions to most of the developmental challenges confronting Sierra Leone. Our library of multidisciplinary professional courses and programmes, delivered via in-class, instructor-facilitated distance learning and online, span both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

DIDAMS College Teaching Hospital

The teaching hospital was established mainly for students to acquire the practical experience that is needed for them to perform effectively after graduating from college, but it also serves the people within its community. It has the following objectives:

  • To provide a conducive environment for practical work experience by students of the Department of Nursing, Public Health and ultimately medical sciences.
  • To provide diversified, quality, accessible and affordable units within the hospital as they relate to general medicine, maternity, gynaecology, surgery, laboratory and dialysis tests for students of DIDAMS; and even students from health and medical departments of other interested tertiary institutions.
  • To ensure residents within and around the Rokel Community and beyond have access to medical and healthcare at reasonable and affordable cost.
To contribute to the actualisation of policies of the government through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, by providing facilities for human resource development within the health service

SIDCOT PRIMARY SCHOOL

During and after the emergence of the deadly virus, 3,956 Sierra Leonean citizens lost their lives, 35% of the total EVD deaths in West Africa. With so many children in the orphanage, and with the knowledge that education was a priority for their future, the foundation then decided to establish a school – and so Sidcot Primary School was born.

The school opened to provide education for Ebola orphans and children whose parents or guardians were in terrible economic and social difficulty. Due to the deplorable condition of the Rokel Community, a rural community in which the school was established, it was soon not only serving the orphans but other children whose parents could not afford to finance their education.

Our Partners

Currently, DIDAMs is going through an evaluation process by 10 or more academic institutions in the United Kingdom and United States to be awarded the right to offer degree and certificate courses on their behalf in Sierra Leone. Check back later for a comprehensive list…..
